WOOD ART LANKA

. HISTORY OF THE ART
This is a unique art found in Sri Lanka and was originally found by my mother in year . Initially the creations done solely by her only for the personal use of our family. Gradually she taught us the skill, subject to condition of not to divulge the secrecy of the art to anyone other than our family members. DESCRIPTION OF PAST EXPERIENCE
I was engaged in creating and distributing unique arts to luxury hotels, entertainment clubs and handicraft shops for the past 15 years. These creations have a good demand among foreigners as well as locals, as they are very unique and made purely on timber particles.

This creative skill was taught by my mother and I started my creativity in the age of 22 under the supervision of my senior family members. At that time the business was done smoothly with the cooperation of the family members and the distribution was solely handled by my eldest brother. Gradually I enhanced my skill and started to do the creations on my own also engaged in the distribution with my brother.

After grabbing the adequate knowledge and experience I decided to start my own business in a very small scale in 1993. However I registered the business in 1996 under the name styled “Wood Arts Lanka”. Earlier I was only engaged in distributing my creations to selected hotels, clubs and handicraft shops. However after a considerable period I was came to an agreement with the management of certain Hotels to organize an open exhibition once in a month in their premises. This guided me to develop my business further and got the connection of prospective foreign and local buyers. Further development of the business I rented out a small premise as my work shop and employed 4 workers.

My personal involvement in the business and experience in the trade helped me to grab more connections of some of the leading luxury hotels in the country. This enhanced my client base and also to develop my business to present level.
